Roles and responsibility for this position:
The engineer will be responsible for developing: 1) embedded firmware for Westar products, 2) embedded Altera FPGA code and 3) PC-based VB.net software for applications that allow customers to configure Westar products for the customer's unique application. In addition, the engineer will create appropriate internal design documentation and customer user's manuals to support long-term maintenance of the code and successful customer use of the applications.
Education/Experience Required:
5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
Skills and Experience You Should Possess:
- Expertise in Altera FPGA's and the Quartus design environment
- Experience in various microcontrollers and their integrated development environments, including ARM Cortex variants
- Experience in embedded real-time operating systems,
- Experience with circuit card design
- Hands-on electronics development experience, including use of power supplies, DMM, o-scope, etc
Additional Desired Skills/Knowledge
- Familiarity with Ethernet, I2C, SPI-bus, JTAG
- Video knowledge a plus, including HDMI, DisplayPort, V-By-One, etc
- Clear communicator
- Proficient at Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
