Lignite Planner, Mechanical

Description & Responsibilities:

  • The primary function of this position is to develop and maintain equipment maintenance strategies that support the objectives of the plant.
  • Research and develop cost effective, accurate, and safe work plans for all mechanical equipment repairs. Duties include furnishing mechanical drawings, specifications, and specific materials as well as providing mechanical / technical assistance and guidance to maintenance personnel or contractors to enhance the performance of the department.
  • Develop detailed work packages and procedures in accordance with the 8 step process.
  • The incumbent is required to be knowledgeable of safe work practices, the company safety handbook, regulatory requirements, HPI tools, and applicable company policies and procedures, and that the incumbent will enforce adherence to the safety rules as written.
  • Assess, manage, and prioritize backlog.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and prioritize mechanical equipment problems and operational problems to insure repairs are made to maintain plant safety, reliability, and availability.
  • Teams with plant operations, plant maintenance, plant technical staff, corporate support groups, and various contractors to ensure site goals and objectives are met in a positive and productive manner.
  • Provide short and long-term planning and coordinate mechanical work activities of the team (employees, contractors, service providers, vendors, etc.).
  • Provide operational data, statistics, and records support to the Plant Management staff.
  • Provides appropriate mechanical / technical direction to craft personnel to ensure adherence to accepted procedures, practices and standards.
  • Communicates and documents relevant mechanical information concerning craft resources, job status, equipment status and personnel issues to appropriate peers and supervisors in a timely manner using the appropriate means of communication. (verbal, computer based, written).
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Maximo, Microsoft Office, and other applicable computer-based software necessary to complete day to day work assignments.
  • Periodically serves on special committees, short-term task forces, and temporary assignments as directed.
  • Provide project management services as required/assigned in an efficient and cost-effective manner as directed.
  • Assess and inventory spare parts to support maintenance strategies.
  • Maintain equipment records in Maximo and relate them to appropriate equipment tag.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5 years' experience in utility/industrial discipline with mechanical experience required.
  • Computer skills to include Maximo, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Preferred

  • Ability and knowledge in troubleshooting, repairing, installing, reading mechanical prints, OEM Manuals etc. Required.

    Physical Requirements:
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Able to work occasional irregular hours.
  • Work at heights and with adverse conditions and manage emergency activities.
  • Enter and work in a confined space.
  • Comply with Luminant respirator policy.
