Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure the overall safety and welfare of individuals served, maintaining a warm and conflict free atmosphere.
  • Comply with licensing and certification requirements, exceeding standards when possible.
  • Facilitate incidental teaching for Direct Support Professionals and generate daily activity schedules.
  • Uphold individual rights, actively participating in Individual Support Plan meetings and RN visits.
  • Train staff on clients' medical needs, preferences, and compliance, ensuring awareness of medications of medications and potential side effects.
  • Oversee residential documentation, including daily notes, goals, and health tracking.
  • Conduct audits and accurate and timely documentation of authorized services and supports.
  • Regularly review the physical condition of homes, ensuring health, safety, and cleanliness standards are met.
  • Maintain safety kits and review Medication Administration Records (MARS) for compliance.
  • Complete event reports, provide coverage during staff vacancies, and track mileage usage within budget.
  • Participate in the development of positive behavioral support, accompany clients to medical appointments and manage client finances.
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator on monthly RN visits, special diets, adaptive equipment training, and Quality Management follow-up.
  • Ensure safety drills, training in special diets, and documentation of daily exceptions are completed.
  • Respond to calls 24/7, make coverage arrangements during absences, cover open shifts as needed and actively participate in organizational committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions and procedures.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with residents, employees, family members and other contacts, using person-centered language.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow written, oral or diagram instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills for addressing issues in standardized situations with multiple variables.
  • Competency in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reliable means of communication.
  • Strong reading and comprehension skills to understand written materials and the ability to write clearly and legibly.

Experience and Education Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • One year of experience working in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities or successful completion of training in the Missouri Quality Outcomes approved by the Division of Development Disabilities regional office required.

Supervisory Requirements:

  • Communicate the strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all employees.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of the department.
  • Take an active role in monitoring the identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives.
  • Involve, as appropriate, all employees in order to achieve goals.
  • Effectively communicate to employees any changes and news worthy events within the department or company.
  • Handle difficult employee situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual
  • Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.
  • Reinforces team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels with the company.
  • Maintains confidentiality of business information, including Protected Health Information (PHI), as required by HIPAA and company policy

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver's license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
