Summary:

Responsible for monitoring and improving supplier performance. Manage the progression of key suppliers to achieve Company requirements and manage the deployment of supplier processes and principles. Provide technical and quality direction to the supply base in direct support of the production and contractual requirements of the organization, both internal and external.

Major Position Responsibilities
    This position serves as the primary point of contact for all technical and quality related issues pertaining to materials and components that are used in the production of the deliverable products.
  • The role generates and reviews technical and quality documentation in support of contractual requirements and needs including contract submittals from suppliers for completeness and accuracy within contract timelines.
  • Performs technical and quality reviews / audits at the suppliers' facilities and participates in first piece and conformance inspections when required.
  • Proactively interfaces with the supply base for process improvements and mitigation of failures and defects.
  • Provides departmental support of failure investigations both internal and external, to determine cause and corrective action utilizing Quality tools, write final report and confirm effectiveness through verification activities.
  • Reviews supplier provided quality plans and measurement equipment process documentation to determine accuracy and ability to meet the technical / quality requirements of the contract. Conduct Manufacturing site assessment and summarize critical site concerns (Proactive Gap Analysis).
  • Conduct Gap Analysis (audits) of Supplier Process to understand gaps, improvement and compliance risk.
  • Drive deployment of Quality requirements, initiatives and training to supply base in SDE tools (e.g. Warranty Reduction, Benchmarking, Lean Manufacturing, Reliability and Robustness, 8D (or similar) methodology, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), Gage R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility), etc.; as well as contract-specific requirements such as Critical Characteristics and Measurement System Analysis (MSE).
Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering, Engineering mechanics or closely related field.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in supplier quality management, with specific experience in supplier quality measurement and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Preferred
  • DOD or automotive experience is preferred.
  • Experience in machining, castings, welding, and other manufacturing processes preferred
  • Certified Quality Engineer (preferred)
  • ISO Lead Auditor Certified or Trained (preferred)
  • Must have knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and Problem Resolution Techniques.
  • Six-sigma Training, Green Belt or LEAN expert minimum (Black Belt preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must possess good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical, analytical and statistical skills.
  • Must be able to interface with all levels of management and personnel including third party auditors, customers and suppliers.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills both oral and written.

Pay Range (USD)
$93,100 - $172,900
